Targeted Therapy Consultation
Targeted therapies can be very effective against cancer. These targeted drugs specifically inhibit molecules responsible for tumor growth. However, there are several hundreds of possible different targets in tumor cells and the right targeted drug has to be selected for the patient. For this selection our center uses the service provided by Caris Life Sciences, an international leader in molecular biomarker diagnostics for cancer with its German partner TherapySelect.
The molecular diagnostic test and information service of Caris Life Sciences, the Caris Molecular Intelligence (CMI), provides information about the possible effectiveness of more than 200 targeted compounds based on the analysis of about 600 genes and other biomarkers in the tumor tissue. Centre for Cancer Medicine has a strong background in tumor biology, which is required for the clinical interpretation of the molecular profile of the tumor. This enables the individualized planning of treatment strategy based on the available targeted therapies.
